Electric Beds in the Swaim Health Center
It’s terrific when the generous efforts of many join together for the benefit of others. Thanks to the generosity of special friends at Green Ridge, including the Auxiliary, staff contributing to the Employee Giving Campaign, and individual donors, almost all of the rooms in the Swaim Health Center now have electric beds. This has taken several years to accomplish but has been worth the wait. The staff appreciates the flexibility – beds may be raised or lowered to aid in transferring someone to or from a wheelchair, for instance. In addition, the beds may be lowered to the floor level to prevent falls. Residents like the fact that they can adjust them to a variety of positions without calling for assistance. Family members are pleased to see loved ones comfortable and independent. The controls are easy to use. “They have been a blessing to everyone here, and we thank everyone for these wonderful gifts,” said Wilma Bowermaster, head of housekeeping at Green Ridge.
