Green Ridge Village Volunteer Program

Volunteerism is rewarding, fun and contributes to everyone’s emotional well-being. Our commitment to the wholeness of body, mind and spirit is brought to life by our team of staff, families and volunteers who work together to help people regain their independence, renew their strength or live out their lives in an accepting, supportive environment.

Our volunteers often express a sense of deep pride in knowing they are vital to the quality of life our residents enjoy by:
  • Helping them attain a maximum degree of happiness and satisfaction
  • Supporting their physical, mental and spiritual well-being
  • Contributing to a caring and secure environment
  • Supporting staff and families as they work toward meeting resident needs
  • Extending activity schedules
  • Providing a broader variety of leisure opportunities

Every volunteer is unique and has special talents and experience to offer. The gift of time varies from daily, weekly, to twice a month, to monthly. Examples of participation are as varied as the volunteers themselves.
They include:
  • Friendly visits to read, write letters or just chat
  • Transporting residents in their wheel chairs to in-house therapy, beauty salon, church ser vices, activities or other entertainment
  • Serving as an Activities Aide in crafts, discussion groups, games, bingo, and exercises or to escort residents on bus trips to restaurants and picnics
  • Decorating for special events and seasons
  • Providing assistance with the bingo program on Mondays

At Green Ridge Village, we firmly believe that residents Should LOVE where they LIVE and Be LOVED where they LIVE. If you feel that you could benefit from the wisdom, experience and friendship of others, we would like to talk with you. Contact: Becky Best, Director of Volunteer Services, at 717-776-8258.

Green Ridge Village Auxiliary
For more than 75 years the Auxiliary has helped provide the extra amenities that make living at Green Ridge Village “special”. The Volunteer hours given by many as well as the financial support of the community has truly shown that… “The Service we render to others is really the rent we pay for our room on this earth.” ~Sir Wilfred Thomas Grenfell.
